Diversity Initiatives Mentoring

Transfomative Mentoring

Rise and Metamorphosis are mentoring programs for persons Asterisk of color on campus seeking to transform their leadership, community building and professional skills. Participants learn to foster respectful and diverse spaces with the support of peers and mentors.

Students are offered opportunities for bonding with training, lectures and volunteer service. They are encouraged to participate in a series of bi-weekly workshops offered by faculty, staff and community leaders.

These mentoring programs maintain efforts to positively impact academic success, increase retention, develop empathetic leaders and foster a sense of belonging on campus and our local community. Participants emerge with new connections, emotional and social strengths along with educational merit.

Wilkes acknowledges that students may identify outside of the gender binary. Students at present are encouraged to join the group that suits them best. With enough participants, we hope to incorporate programming that is more reflective of the gender spectrum.
